AZTEC MUNICIPAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

Aztec High School Students! San Juan County is again hosting the “Summer Enrichment Internship Program” and will place students in paid internships throughout the county. Current high school students or graduates of the classes of 2021 and 2022 are eligible and must be at least 16 years old before this summer to participate. Student participants must provide their own transportation to their internship locations. Spots are limited and the application deadline to apply is May 26th. Internships will begin the week of June 20th and will go for six weeks until July 29th. Students will participate in industry internships with local businesses and receive employability workshops for a total of 20 hours a week and will be paid $12 an hour. The application can be found at www.sjcounty.net under apply now and the position is titled “2022 Summer Intern.” Thank you to the NMPED and San Juan County for making this amazing learning experience available to our students!

Aztec Businesses! Do you need some help this summer and would like to mentor local students in your industry? San Juan County is again hosting the “Summer Enrichment Internship Program” this summer and will place students in paid internships throughout the county. If you are interested, please email Tara Martinez at tamartinez@sjcounty.net with your business name, contact information, how many interns you would like to place at your business, a brief description of the industry, and a brief summary of the learning opportunities and work experience the students will gain. REMINDER: SAT is scheduled for Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at AHS and VNHS. This is a virtual day for all students in grades 9, 10, and 12. Students in Grade 11 will report to their campus to take the SAT. Classes will resume as normal on Thursday, April 14, 2022.

Dear Tiger Community, The gas line repairs at Aztec High School have been completed, inspected, and approved. As a result, in-person instruction at Aztec High School will resume on Monday, April 4, 2022. Hello AHS Families, Unfortunately, repair on the natural gas leak at Aztec High School is still ongoing. As a result, our classrooms do not currently have heat. This lack of heating is causing temperatures in classrooms to fall well below adequacy standards for students as well as OSHA recommendations for our staff. Due to this, Aztec High School will continue to hold classes remotely/online next week, March 28th through April 1st. Repairs are progressing; however, at this time it is not appropriate to have students return to campus. The main campus will continued to be closed to students while the gas services are being restored. AHS administration and staff are working to create study hall opportunities for the next week so that students requiring additional, in-person supports may do so in the 600 building and gyms, which do have heat. For more information, please contact the Aztec High School office. As we get additional information regarding the repairs and are preparing for a return to campus we will provide updates. Presently all athletics and activities including prom will continue as normal. We thank you for your understanding and patience while we work through this safety issue. Thank you, Aztec Schools
