Hello Tiger Community,
This afternoon at AHS we moved into a preventative lockdown on site after reports that there was a weapon on campus.
Our partners with the Aztec Police Department assisted with the investigation. We want to stress that there is no specific threat to AHS at this time.
The investigation is ongoing, and we will continue to take steps to keep our students and staff safe.

Hello Tiger Community,
We are asking you to please help us protect our schools and our students.
In the last few school days we have seen an increase in the spread of misinformation via social media. This misinformation is creating undue stress to students and staff. We are asking that you please help by monitoring your students facebook, snap chat, tiktok and whatever other means they have and guide them to use these apps in healthy and appropriate manner.
Through investigation work with Aztec Police and other partners we have learned that many of the social media posts related to rumored threats to our schools or other misinformation is originating from another state and do not appear to be credible.
It is our hope that by supporting and guiding our students, as well as continued work with our partners to address these alarming posts, we can help our students use technology responsibly and establish a safe environment for them and staff in our schools.
We will have increased police presence on our campuses again today out of an abundance of caution.
Thank you,
Aztec Municipal School District

Good Morning Tiger Community,
We have received a few calls and messages from individuals concerned about TikTok videos and/or social media reports that appear to reference schools in Aztec and threats to those schools. This is again part of a larger issue that schools across the country are dealing with.
Aztec Municipal School District is aware of the video and continues to work with the Aztec Police Department and others to investigate. Out of caution, we have heightened awareness at sites. At this time, there is no specific or credible threat to students or staff.
Thank you for sharing concerns for the safety of our students and staff.
Aztec Municipal School District
Hello Tiger Community,
We wanted to take a moment to update you on the events at KMS this morning that led to us securing our campus for a brief period of time.
This morning we received a tip from a student that they had heard other students talking about a threat to KMS. This student did exactly what we hope all our students will do and brought the concern to our attention immediately.
After the concern was brought to our attention, staff at KMS quickly took action to secure the campus and look into the report. At this time, our partners with the Aztec Police Department were present and assisted with looking into the matter.
Through investigation, we learned that some students had seen a TikTok video that identified a non-specific threat that they believed targeted KMS.
Sadly, this is part of a larger trend that is impacting schools across the country.
Through further investigation, it appears that the referenced school was not specifically KMS and may have been referring to a school in another state.
Student safety is our primary concern. All reports are taken seriously and are looked into. While this threat does not appear to be credible we have worked with Aztec Police to have an increased presence on our campus today.
We again want to stress that there is no specific threat to KMS at this time, and we will continue to take steps to keep our students and staff safe. Additionally, we want to highlight and thank our brave student who brought this to our attention so we could ensure campus safety.
Thank you,
Aztec Municipal School District

Aztec Schools is happy to announce a partnership with Perryweather to help keep kids safe in the event of adverse weather conditions. These devices will help with heat, cold, air quality, and wind conditions. In the event of severe storms, an audible lightning alert will be broadcast to alert the public of lighting in the area. These weather stations are located at Fred Cook, Aztec High School, and Tiger Sports Complex. For additional information, please visit our website at https://www.aztecschools.com/article/1704937

We had our welcome back event for all district employees yesterday morning at Lillywhite Gym, which included our Years of Service awards. We are honored to have those that continue their long-term commitment to our students and this community! Help us in congratulating them in all they do!

A huge shout out to the City of Aztec for helping us hang our new weather stations! As a district, we have a few new Perry Weather stations to help us with notifications. The staff at the City of Aztec did not hesitate to help and let us use their bucket truck, and we are grateful for the great community partnership we have! Thanks again, the install went great!

We have a new sound system at Fred Cook Stadium! We needed an upgrade and are grateful we were able to make this change. Athletics and many district activities use this facility for events, games, and other community gatherings, and we are excited to use the new system. Thank you to all who participated in our athletic golf fundraiser to help make this happen! Go Tigers!
