What is a Mill Levy? It's a property tax that equals $1 for every $1,000 of your property's assessed net taxable value. Each year, you pay property taxes to various state, county, city and educational agencies. This mill levy will not increase your property tax rate. On March 19th, cast your vote on the mill levy. https://www.voteaztecschools.com/

Hello Tiger Community, We wanted to send a reminder about an opportunity we have for families to participate in a research project. Please see the message below. Thank you, Aztec Schools Hello Parents! My name is Sherry Dame and I am a doctoral student under the direction of Dr. Acquelnetta Myrick in the College of Doctoral Studies at Grand Canyon University. I am conducting a study on the home learning environment of children who are successful in school. I would like to ask all parents of elementary school children who help their children at home to complete an online questionnaire. You do not have to participate. You may be asked to provide information about the name of your child’s school, their grade level, and your race/ethnicity. You may be asked for your contact information for a personal interview. Parents who complete the interview will receive a $25 Amazon gift card. Please click on the link below for more information. Thank you in advance for responding! Link: https://5il.co/2arkx

Hello Tiger Community, We have an update on AHS. Our partners have been able to investigate the alarm. It appears that there was a malfunction in the system. There was no emergency or fire. Our partners are helping us look into what caused the malfunction. At this time normal operations are resuming at AHS. Thank you, Aztec Schools

Hello Tiger Community, We had a our fire suppression system in the Library at AHS activate unexpectedly. Out of an abundance of caution we have removed students and staff from the building and are moving them to the gym while partners with the fire department investigate the situation. As of now there is no indication that there is an emergency. We will update with additional information as it becomes available. Thank you, Aztec Schools

Hello Tiger Community, At approximately 10:30 today we received a phone call alleging that there was a bomb on campus at Aztec High School. Upon receiving this message the school took the threat very seriously and involved the Aztec Police Department. To keeps students safe an emergency lockdown was initiated and the campus checked and secured. The lockdown has been lifted at this time. The situation was resolved relatively quickly and did not affect the safety of our school. Bomb threat appears to be hoax. Aztec Police continue to be on campus for safety purposes as we continue to investigate the situation. Thank you, Aztec Schools

Hello Tiger Community, With the winter season on the horizon we wanted to send out a brief reminder about our inclement weather processes. We had to make some changes to our processes due to House Bill 130 which was passed in the 2023 Regular Session of the New Mexico State Legislature, the number of required instructional hours changed from 990 hours in elementary and 1080 hours in secondary to 1140 hours for all grades. As a result, the District has determined that there will be no inclement weather days for the 2023-2024 school year so that students do not have to return to school after Memorial Day in order to meet the required instructional hours. Due to this, if there is inclement weather and conditions improve we will have a late start to school. If there is inclement weather and conditions do not improve the district will shift to a remote learning day beginning at 10:00 AM. Thank you, Aztec Schools
