Hello AMSD Families and Staff,

Hello Tiger Community, Earlier we had an individual at McCoy Elementary School experience a medical emergency that required an ambulance to be on site. Students and staff are safe and Emergency Responders have departed the site. We appreciate your understanding and thank all of our team members and partners for their quick response to this medical episode. Thank you, Aztec Municipal School District
Dear Tiger Community,
We would like to take a moment to clarify the purpose behind the "emergency incident" alert notifications, particularly in light of recent questions and concerns.
We understand that seeing emergency vehicles on a school campus can understandably cause concern for families and the broader community. To ease worries and promote transparency, we aim to provide notifications about incidents on campus whenever we can.
In instances where a student experiences a medical emergency—whether it’s a minor injury or a more serious situation—the Aztec School Health Team assesses the need for further medical attention. If necessary, Emergency Services are contacted to ensure the well-being of the student. Our priority is always to work closely with the impacted family and Emergency Services to address the situation quickly and effectively.
Once the situation is under control and the student is safe, we send out an alert to keep the community informed. At the same time, please know that we prioritize the privacy and safety of the student involved, which is why specific details are kept confidential.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate these sensitive situations while keeping the best interests of our students and staff at heart.
Sincerely,
Aztec Municipal School District

Dear McCoy Families,
We are nearing completion of the necessary water repairs at McCoy Elementary; however, at this time, we are not able to welcome students back to campus tomorrow.

Hello McCoy Families,
We have been able to finish investigating the water leak at McCoy and have determined that significant repairs are necessary to restore water to the building.
At this time, we will not be able to have students in the building on Monday, December 16, 2024, and Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Due to this, students will participate in online learning on Monday and Tuesday while the repairs are made.
We will provide additional updates as repairs continue. It is possible that the building will need to be closed longer depending on the final repairs that are needed.
We recognize the disruption and issues that this matter has caused for some families. Please know that we are working to get the matter resolved as quickly as possible.
We want to thank you all again for your understanding and patience in this matter. It is our goal to have students back in the building and return to normal operations as soon as all repairs are completed.
Thank you,
Aztec Municipal School District
Hello McCoy Families,
We have been notified of a significant water leak in our building. We are currently investigating the severity of the leak. Currently there are two restrooms on campus that are operational. Due to this we must close our school early today. We ask that families begin picking students up immediately or that you make arrangements for your child to be picked up by noon.
We will use the regular parent pick up line and processes for students to be picked up.
We ask that parents please not come to the office unless it is necessary.
Families that are absolutely unable to pick students up please contact the McCoy office at (505) 334-6831.
We are currently working with partners to determine if the building will be able to open next week. We will provide updates on this as soon as we know if this will be a possibility. Presently we are sending students home with computers in case we are unable to open next week.
We are truly sorry for this disruption and appreciate your assistance and understanding.
Thank you,
Aztec Schools

Parents/Guardians:
KMS will be hosting a balloon event in the form of a Pep Rally with the theme of Learn to Rise as the focus on September 28th, 2023. Students from Lydia Rippey and McCoy will be bused to the Fred Cook beginning at 8:00 - 8:30. Park Avenue and Koogler will be released around 9:00 for a repeat of the event. Students will be served cinnamon rolls and juice upon their arrival and then will be entertained and rallied by our cheerleaders and dance team. The Tiger tunnel will be up so that students can run/walk through it to the stands escorted by their teachers. The only students on the field will be the students who won the raffle from each individual school. (Please make sure they have a signed permission form.) We will have our yearbook sponsor taking pictures of your students. Safety will be provided by the police and our safety team. It should be a very fun event for your students and we appreciate your cooperation in allowing them to be a part of this. Please remember, that we cannot have added vehicles or spectators of any kind because of the capacity and for safety reasons. If you have questions, please call your respective schools for added information. (This event will last approximately 45 minutes for each school.) Buses will also return your students after the 45-minute pep rally. (Times may vary.)
