Become an exemplary school district by establishing ourselves as a high functioning and effective district wide Professional Learning Community.

Operational Values

AZTEC MUNICIPAL SCHOOL District Goals

 

  1. Utilize Professional Learning Communities as our work to ensure high levels of learning for all students:

    • All schools will receive a school grade of B or better as measured by the criteria for school grading established by the PED for the 2015-2016 school year. 
    • All schools will utilize Interim Assessments and Common Formative Assessments to document improved student learning during the 2015 -2016 school year.
    • All schools will utilize Teacher Action Plans to help guide interventions, enrichments and re-teaching for large group, small group and individual learning after analyzing their interim assessments.  
  2. To improve student learning for all students, during the 2015-2016 school year, through Relationships, Rigor, Relevance and Purposeful Collaboration:

    • All Aztec staff will build healthy relationships with students, all other staff, parents and the community, as measured by tools such as:
      1. Surveys
      2. Continuous improvement tools
      3. Communication logs
      4. Positive behavior rewards
      5. Artifacts
      6. Site assistance visits/School report outs
    • All students will experience a personalized education as measured by tools such as:

      1. Student feedback
      2. Continuous improvement tools
      3. Targeted intervention/enrichment
      4.  
      5. Student data/Teacher action plans
      6. Site assistance visits/School report outs
    • All teachers will implement instructional strategies that will increase the level ofRelevance and Rigor as measured by tools such as:

      1. Classroom observations
      2. Continuous improvement tools
      3. Student feedback
      4. Lesson plan reviews
      5. Qualitative/quantitative rubrics
      6. Site assistance visits/School report outs
      7. Daily learning objectives embedded in instruction
      8. Student data/Teacher action plans
    • All staff will actively engage in Professional Learning Communities as measured by tools such as:

      1. Student feedback
      2. Continuous improvement tools
      3. Peer and administrative observations
      4. Common formative assessments
      5. Pacing guides and essential learning targets
      6. Vertically and horizontally aligned curricula
      7. Site assistance visits/School report outs
      8. Student data analysis

AZTEC MUNICIPAL SCHOOL DISTRICT STRATEGIES

  • Teacher teams will develop common formative assessments that are aligned to the common cores and use them to communicate progress to students and parents on a frequent basis.
  • Site leadership will communicate expectations and direction that aligns to the District Strategic Plan
  • Intervention and enrichments will be targeted to student need and aligned to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
  • Students will be responsible for monitoring their learning, setting goals and collecting evidence of learning.
  • A data management system will be implemented to allow essential data to be collected and analyzed as part of improving student learning for all students.
  • Effective and frequent collaboration with parents will help ensure healthy relationships and satisfaction with families to assist with improving student learning.
  • Long range planning and budget development will be based on improving student learning for all students and staff.
  • Long range fiscal planning will be based on the specific needs of students so they can be prepared for the 21st century
