ABOUT THE FACILITIES MASTER PLAN COMMITTEE

A committee composed of Students, Parents, Community Members, Board Members, Teachers and Administrators studied the Aztec Municipal School District (AMSD) to create a five year Facilities Master Plan. The plan prioritized the critical needs for AMSD that amount to approximately $17,000,000. With a successful bond election our school district can begin to address the critical needs outlined on this page.

2012 General Obligation Bond Election

GENERAL INFORMATION

 

On February 7, 2012, a very important special school district election will be held to ask all registered and qualified voters to authorize the issuance of up to $17,000,000 of general obligation bonds. The bonds would be issued in such amounts and at such times over the next four years to meet construction requirements of the district.

• District Wide Technology Upgrades in: Infrastructure, Servers & Data Storage, Computers & Other Classroom Technology, Security, Software
• Technology Department Storage Unit
• Build a new much needed Data Center Facility
• Planning for Elementary School Expansion
 
Energy Efficiency, Building and Site Improvements
• AHS Boiler System upgrades
• AHS HVAC Replacement & Upgrades
• AHS Lighting and Ceiling Upgrades
• KMS Campus Wide Landscaping to Complete Campus Construction
• Park Ave Elementary School Restroom Facilities Remodel
• Park Ave Elementary School Drainage
• Park Ave Elementary School Asphalt Repair

VOTING INFORMATION

ELECTION WILL BE HELD:

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 7TH, 2012.

Voting stations will be open from:

7:00 AM to 7:00 PM at these locations:

  • PRECINCT 1
    • Aztec Municipal School District Administration Office
    • Consolidated precincts 62, 63, 64, 66 and those portions of precincts 67, 68, 69, 73, 74, and 76 within the Aztec Municipal School District
  • PRECINCT 2
    • Flora Vista Fire Station
    • Those portions of precincts 55, 57 and 58 within the Aztec School District.
  • PRECINCT 3
    • Cedar Hill Fire Station
    • Precinct 65 and those portions of precincts 59, 60, 61, and 72 within the Aztec School District.
  • ABSENTEE VOTING
    • All Precincts:  County Clerk's Office
    • January 13, 2012 through February 3, 2012
    • 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Tax Rates

Aztec Municipal Schools has the lowest tax rates of any school district in San Juan County. Your tax rates will still be lower than the other school districts even after issuing the bonds. In addition, approximately 75 percent of the cost of the bonds will be paid by commercial properties and the value of the oil and gas produced in the district.

The Effects on Property Tax

It is estimated that the tax rate for bonds will increase by $1.60 per $1,000 of net taxable value of a property. To make this more meaningful, examples of the tax effect are given below for selected property values.
